Adopt-a-Pet

A good first step to adopting any animal is deciding on the breed(s) of dog or cat that will best suit you and your family needs. It is wise to do a little homework first, reading books or magazines that give detailed information about the various attributes or deficiencies of the various breeds that are of interest to you.

Once you have narrowed your list of potential breeds and have decided on the approximate age group, you can begin your search for the dog, puppy, cat or kitten that is just right for you.

Hundreds of thousands of homeless animals find their way to animal shelters across the county. Because of this, we highly recommend that your adoption efforts start at one of these animal shelters.

Successful pet adoption is the ultimate goal and at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter, homeless pets stay until they are adopted.

Every one of our animals deserves a chance for a good home.

We are grateful and proud of our Newport Beach Police Department Animal Control staff who oversee the Shelter and adoptions.

Nothing compares to the joy of coming home to a loyal companion.

The unconditional love of a pet can do more than keep you company.

Pets may also decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their emotional and social skills.

87.3% of Americans were reported as happier than the average person because of owning a pet.
